We all are afraid of something. Failure, rejection or even what others think.
Have you thought, “I can’t do it” or “I’m not good enough,” during rehearsal?
That is fear taking over. Remember, dance is fun, right?
Here are the 10 common inner fears dancers face on a team!
1. When your choreo pick-up is off
Why is everyone but me getting the first eight-count? Now, we’re moving on already!
2. When you mess up during groups
Oops, I forgot!
I keep f — ing up that part!
3. When you post a video…and second guess yourself
I’m not sure If I should post this on IG, but I killed that part!…
…Or not. (sigh)
4. When you are at auditions…and cut (at least you think so)
Waiiittttt…
Did the judges not like me?
5. When you attend your first rehearsal on a new team…and you DO NOT know anyone!
Everyone is SO good. I’m scared I won’t make friends. Will anyone like me?
6. When you have to freestyle
You mean I have to think on the spot and move how I want in the middle of our group circle? You are crazy!
7. When you think your choreography sucks
I’m not creative. I keep doing the same moves.
My choreo still sucks…
8. When you present your choreo assignment
I hope I remember…that one part I made up an hour ago.
9. When you are casting for a piece
I knew the piece. I did good on the second run, right?…
…CRAP, why didn’t I get a callback?
10. When you teach the team, a class or workshop for the first time
I’m in the front now? Uh oh.
